E-mail client is a program through which you can save e-mails on your hard drive. Microst has released many e-mail clients like Outlook Express (Free with Windows XP), Outlook 2000/2002/2003/2007, Windows Mail etc. There are other e-mail clients like Mac Mail (Comes with Macintosh Systems), Entourage, Mozilla Thunderbird, etc.
If you wish to access your e-mails through both your web based e-mail and your e-mail client, then you have to enable the option in your e-mail client to leave a copy of message on the server. If this option is not enabled then your e-mail get removed once it get downloaded in your e-mail client.
Below are the steps to leave a copy of message on Server for most of the e-mail clients.
1. Outlook Express / 2000
* Open Outlook Express
* Click Tools from the main menu.
* Click Accounts...
* Click the mail tab.
* Choose your account from the list.
* Click on Properties.
* Click on the Advanced Tabl.
* Mark Leave a copy of message on server.
* Click OK and then click Close.
Outlook 2003.
* Open Outlook 2003.
* Click Tools from the main menu.
* Click E-mail accounts.
* Choose View or change existing e-mail accounts under E-mail.
* Click Next.
* Choose your account and click Change...
* Click on the More Settings button.
* Mark the option: Leave a copy of messages on the server.
* Click OK.
Mac Mail.
* Click Mail.
* Click Preferences...
* Choose your account from the left pane.
* Click the Advanced tab.
* Uncheck the option: Remove copy from the server after retrieving a message:
* Close the window and save.
